Commemoration of the arrival of the Common Wealth Express 2010 at Kamakhya Railway Station, Guwahati
The Commonwealth Express Train was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Shri Bharat Narah held at a function in Kamkhya Railway Station. Other members present in the function were Shri Niraj Verma (IAS), Commissioner and Secy Information Technology, Government of Assam, Shri Santanu Thakur(IAS), Commissioner and Secy., Sports, Government of Assam; Shri. M.K. Yadava,IFS, Managing Director, AMTRON and Shri Bipin Jha, AGM, NF Railways.
The programme kicked off with the welcome address by MD, AMTRON who spoke on ICT initiatives taken in the State under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Shri Niraj Verma, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, IT spoke on exhibits of the train and awarding the VLEs of the Arunudoy CSC kendras.. Three sports personalities of NF Railway were felicitated in the meeting by the Sports Minister. In the meeting 27 VLEs from each of 27 districts were felicitated with a HP printer and a citation for being consistent performer in E-Siksha/ Insurance Business/ Highest DTH recharge done in their respective districts. Smt. Gita Das Saikia, VLE of Sonitpur district was felicitated with a desktop computer for submitting highest number of G2C applications (more than 900). The Train will halt at the Kamakhya Railway Station for 2 days i.e 19th and 20th July 2010 for public. The Exhibition Train showcases the achievements of Indian athletics and sports personalities in major national and international events in different field of Sports. Apart from sports, the train highlighted the various welfare schemes of the GOI for bringing the IT/e-Governance related services to the door step of the people through its various channels with special emphasis to the Common Service Centers (CSCs).
